CGT Unions Reject Labor Reform and Announce 24-Hour Strike

Union leaders from the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) firmly rejected the labor reform on Wednesday, stating it will only lead to the 'precarization of work' as it 'only takes rights away from workers.' They threatened to take legal action and reaffirmed the 24-hour general strike for Thursday in protest against the law pushed by the government. One of the CGT's co-secretaries, Jorge Sola, pointed out that the labor reform 'modernizes nothing' as it 'does not include artificial intelligence or new technologies' and 'will not generate jobs,' but instead seeks to 'weaken' worker representation 'so that it does not exist when fighting for their rights.' 'For this reason, the CGT will carry out a 24-hour strike,' added Sola. 'This process will come to an end,' he concluded.
